mood: rejuvenated
From Daddy: It was a long day yesterday. Our train arrived in Altoona just a few minutes late. We were aboard and moving by 10 AM. When we got on board there weren't 2 seats together in the car they directed us to anywhere for Jennifer & Kathy to sit with each other. They had us wait at a table in the snack car while they tried to find something for us. The trip to the next stop, Tyrone was 10 minutes. The snack car consists of tables at one end, the serving counter in the middle for food & drinks and business class seats at the other end. I peeked in and saw 3 seats available in business class. Kathy agreed that we should ask if we could upgrade to business class if those seats weren't spoken for between Tyrone and Philadelphia. It turns out they weren't so we moved to Business class. The conductor got us a deal. Only $34 for the 3 of us to upgrade to business class and that included free drinks :-). Between Tyrone & Huntington we had to wait about 15 minutes for a freight train in the middle of nowhere. Just outside Harrisburg on the bridge over the Susquehanna River we had to wait about 40 minutes for something. We ended up pulling into Philadelphia with about 15 minutes to spare to make our next train (#94). We rushed into the station and found out it was 50 minutes behind schedule. It had sat for about 45 minutes just north of Richmond waiting for a freight train. Once we got on board we had another big wait before we got into Newark. We ended up being about 90 minutes late getting into Stamford. They made up some of the time at the end so that we ended up leaving the train about 75 to 80 minutes late at Route 128. We got home about 11:30. Compared with driving for 8 hours and about 2 hours of stops I'd say the train was a pretty good deal. Since I was so tired from working during tax season I would not have enjoyed the drive to Altoona very much. If I was more rested I think I would prefer to drive instead of taking the train. Jennifer was a great train traveller. The long train ride from Philadelphia she was extremely self entertaining. We didn't need to break out the books and crayons and stuff that we had used on the train from Altoona to Philadelphia to keep her from being bored. She fell asleep about 9:15 not long after her usual bedtime and slept until we got into the station. Kathy carried her from the train to the car and I got to carry the luggage :-). Parking at route 128 was a breeze. The parking fee will be on my next Fast Lane bill. No ticket needed to get in or out.

So we drove to Allentown and then up to Bushkill where we stopped to visit Wendy's and then Bushkill Falls. The falls were quite cool and about 100 feet high. Lots of nerds came over and played cards in my house again.

Saturday, September 13th, 2003 (Day 343, Boat Drinks!)

Well, boat trips actually. Uncle Russell and Aunt Mary came over this morning. They got into the car with Daddy and me and we drove to a bus. The bus took us to a boat. The boat took us to Uncle Bud and Aunt Helen. Uncle Bud and Aunt Helen took us to Gaga and Grumper's. We spent the day there. A couple times Uncle Russell put me in a pack and put it on his back. There's a good view from up there. Then I wore my new pink outfit with matching hat. Everyone liked it, but it was hard to crawl while wearing it.

Tuesday, September 9th, 2003 (Day 339, One small step...)

I was on my best behavior.

Sunday, July 13th, 2003 (Day 281, The Piano)

Uncle Mark gave us a piano! All I had to do was do with Daddy to Uncle Mark's and watch it be put on a truck. All Uncle Russell had to do was a little more involved. Here goes...

Russell and Andy and Jennifer met at MET's.
Russell and Andy drove to Somerville UHaul.
UHaul didn't have the promised furniture dollys, but they directed us to one that did.
Russell and Andy drove to East Somerville and picked up two dollys.
Russell and Andy returned to Somerville and Russell drove the truck to Mark's.
Russell parked in front of Mark's house.
Everyone then spent time comforting Jennifer who had become distressed just before Daddy returned.
Russell went to move the truck to the side of the house.
It would not start.
UHaul sent a mechanic.
Mechanic said, "I can always start this, but no one else can."
Mechanic started truck in two minutes.
Russell drove truck back to UHaul and got a replacement.
This time Russell noticed the "No Trucks" signs and took scenic route back from UHaul.
Phil and Mary and Mommy were now at Mark's.
Piano was rolled onto truck in no time flat.
Russell drove piano to Jennifer's.
Piano was unloaded equally rapidly.

We stopped at Staples on the way home but it was kind of boring so I just slept in the shopping cart. Daddy bought a new hard disk so he can store lots more pictures of me! He also bought a 802.11b wireless network router. Now all my favorite nerds can access the internet when they visit. Here are my June photos.

Friday, January 31st, 2003 (Day 118: Reaching)

Today I reached for something. Here's proof.

Tuesday, January 21st, 2003 (Day 108: Daddy gets sick too and another trip to the doctor)

I still have a fever so mommy took me to the doctor again today. When mommy and I got home we found that daddy had left work early because he is now sick too.

Sunday, January 19th, 2003 (Day 106: Mommy gets sick too)

Mommy has been checking in with the doctor's office everyday to ask about my symptoms. Today mommy got sick too. So far daddy is holding up okay although he said he felt a little light headed during shopping yesterday afternoon. My nose is running a lot now so mommy or daddy and I get to take steam baths together. They are fun but afterwards the rest of the house feels cold. Luckily I have a nice warm bathrobe to wear to keep me warm.

Friday, January 17th, 2003 (Day 104: Surprise doctor visit)

This morning while at day care they decided that I couldn't stay with them any longer. It turns out that I have developed my first fever as a baby. I was over the magic temperature mark that says I have to leave. Mommy came for me in the early afternoon and took me to see my doctor. The diagnosis is that I have croup. So I get to have some yummy grape flavored Tylenol drops (0.4 ounces) every 4 hours if my temperature is above 101 or so.

While at the doctor they weighed me in at 10 pounds and 1 ounce. Daddy thinks this is a bit low but I might be lower than he thought due to my having croup.

Saturday, January 11th, 2003 (Day 98: Cards returns to our house)

Today Uncles Russell, John and Phil came over and played cards with daddy. It was the first time cards had been played at our house since I was born. Uncle Russell was very happy to hold me during most of the card game. Mommy was able to take a walk down to town and do a little shopping while the guys entertained me. After cards Uncle Russell installed a new car seat base in the purple car so that both mommy and daddy could drive me around in either car.

Thursday, January 9th, 2003 (Day 96: Mommy stays home with me)

Yesterday when mommy picked me up at day care mommy was told that they suspected I had conjunctivitis and that I couldn't come back until I had been treated for it. Mommy called my doctor who phoned in a prescription to our local drug store. Daddy went to pick up the prescription on his way home from work but the drug store couldn't find it. So since I wasn't treated I got to stay home today and mommy stayed with me. She called the doctor's office and they called up the drug store to see what happened to the prescription. It turns out the folks at the drug store misplaced it and found it for daddy to pick up tonight. So it's off to day care again tomorrow.

Tuesday, January 7th, 2003 (Day 94: Just another day)

Today was just like yesterday. Mommy dropped me off at day care in the morning and picked me up again this afternoon after lots of naps.

Monday, January 6th, 2003 (Day 93: Day care)

Mommy dropped me off at day care this morning. I had a great time taking lots of naps before mommy came back for me in the afternoon. Mommy says I get to do this every weekday. I wonder what a weekday is.

Wednesday, December 25th, 2002 (Day 81: Christmas!)

Grandma Kit and Grumper were there and Amy and Ger were there too. Of course my cousins Samantha and Katherine were there too. Tuesday, December 24th, 2002 (Day 80: Christmas Eve)

Mommy, Daddy and I went into Capital City to visit with Grumper and Grandma Kit. Amy and Ger were there too. It was the first time I had visited with Grumper and Grandma Kit in their Capital City apartment. After dinner we went home and Mommy stayed up late wrapping lots of Christmas presents.

Monday, December 23rd, 2002 (Day 79: Ger and Amy)

Mommy carried me down to the local coffee house where we met up with Kathy's Aunt Amy and Uncle Ger. Amy and Ger had arrived in Capital City yesterday via train. They left Charleston on Saturday. What a long trip! Today they took the commuter train out from Capital City to Springfield and then walked to the coffee house. We all walked back home and had a great time together during the day. Ger entertained me while Mommy and Amy made cookies. Daddy came home around 5 o'clock and entertained me too! After dinner Daddy drove Amy and Ger back to their hotel in Capital City.

Saturday, December 21st, 2002 (Day 77: Cousins)

Daddy, Mommy and I went over to Aunt Nancy and Uncle Nathan's house and visited with my cousin Katherine and cousin Samantha. Mommy and Daddy had a gift to give cousin Katherine who turned 3 years old on the 18th.

Friday, December 20th, 2002 (Day 76: How was your day?)

When Daddy came home tonight Mommy and I were about to read a book together. Daddy and I had a long conversation about how each of us spent our day. Daddy says that it was the longest conversation we've had so far (2-3 minutes!). Of course Daddy can't understand what I'm saying (Daddy calls it cooing). He's trying to understand. I may have to learn how to talk the same way he does so he can understand me. After our conversation Mommy read a book to us called "Barnyard Dance". Daddy was silly and acted out what was described in the book while I looked at the pictures and Daddy's antics.

Thursday, December 19th, 2002 (Day 75: Day care III)

Today Mommy walked us down to my day care center again but this time Mommy left me there and went shopping by herself. She came back for me about 2 hours later and walked us home.

Wednesday, December 18th, 2002 (Day 74: Happy Birthday cousin Katherine!)

Mommy walked us down to my day care center again this morning and we stayed for about 2 hours again today and then she walked us home.

Tuesday, December 17th, 2002 (Day 73: Day care)

Mommy walked us down to my day care center (1/2 a mile) this morning. We stayed there for about 2 hours. Afterwards Mommy walked us a block to town and she did some shopping. Then she walked us home.

Monday, December 16th, 2002 (Day 72: Neighbors)
